http://Topsailislandfishingguides.comHere’s the latest inshore fishing report for Surf City, NC, as of August 2025:

**Red Drum**
– Schools of “bull” reds and slot-sized fish are found on higher-tide grass flats and oyster bars in the Cape Fear River and around creek mouths. The best baits include live menhaden or live mullet, with cut mullet as a strong alternative. Target areas in 2–6 feet of water during incoming tides.

**Speckled Trout**
– Trout have relocated to slightly deeper holes (8–12 feet) in search of cooler water. Use live finger mullet or menhaden on Carolina rigs around shell bars and oyster beds. Look for slow current seams, which tend to hold the most fish.

**Flounder**
– Flounder are abundant in back-water creeks and along deeper edges of flats. Drift live shrimp or use Gulp! on bucktail jigs for effective catches.

Make sure to check the local regulations and weather conditions before heading out!
